What is the purpose of CASA
The majority of Registered Chiropractors in South Africa are members of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa (CASA), which in turn is affiliated to the WFC and subscribes to its' standards. CASA was instrumental in securing the original recognition of the profession attained through Act 63 of 1982 and has actively participated in further amendments leading to the Allied Health Professions Act which offers some of the finest Chiropractic laws in the world. CASA further promotes the professionals at all possible levels and constantly negotiates better payments with medical schemes, Workmans Compensation etc. CASA promotes the highest possible ethical and educational standards for South Africa.
Do we have to pay additional fees for Western Province branch membership
No, once you have paid in full to C.A.S.A, you are automatically a member of the Western Cape branch of Chiropractors. Branch Membership is strictly for paid up members of the National body.
What are the benefits of participating in branch activities
By participating in the meetings and activities planned in the year, you get to meet and socialise with fellow Chiropractors. Meetings will keep you well informed of the goings on of the profession both at national level and international news.
What if we need to report misconduct?
This is a delicate matter for most. Please make sure you have all your facts about the misconduct / grievance. Report the offence to your local chairperson of your branch. This will be dealt with in confidence and forwarded to our executive committee. Further correspondence will then be decided upon. Where doubt or serious contraventions are encountered - the Branch will liaise with the CASA National Executive for further action or advice.
What do you do if you are suspected / accused of misconduct?
Contact your local regional chairman to inform him/her of the allegation. This will be treated as confidential and the matter will be forwarded to the executive committee immediately.
What if I have experienced something that could possibly lead to a Malpractice Claim against me?
Report the incident with full details to the Chairperson and CEO of CASA immediately. A delay in reporting an incident could prove detrimental should a claim against you arise.
